Water Problems
Brownish colored water:
Hydrant Flushing, or any other disturbance to the system can loosen deposits in the lines and cause brown colored water. Also, in dead end lines, iron bacteria or iron deposits in the water build up. These problems can usually be resolved by flushing your system. Turn on the largest faucet in the house and run till clear. If the problem persists, call the City at (734) 428-7877.
Cloudy water:
Cloudy water is usually a sign that air has entered the system. This could be caused by a faulty softener, home plumbing or by City DPW hydrant flushing or a water main break. These problems also can usually be resolved by flushing your system. Turn on the largest faucet in the house and run till clear. If the problem persists, call the City at (734) 428-7877.
Odorous water:
If the odor is a rotten egg smell from only the hot water, the culprit is usually the magnesium rod in the water heater. If the odor is also in the cold water, again try flushing the system for a couple minutes. If the problem persists, call the City at (734) 428-7877.
Low Pressure:
Low pressure is usually caused by a problem in the home’s system. If there is no problem in the home plumbing it could be a water main break in the City system. Please contact us at (734) 428-7877.
