The City contracts with LRS for weekly trash and recycling collection.  The normal collection day is Wednesday.  Trash should be at the curbside by 7am.  The larger black lid bin is for trash, the smaller yellow lid bin is for recycling.  If you have more garbage than what can be placed in the cart, please place it next to the cart in trash bags.

Bulk items will be picked up on the day after collection day (Thursday).  Appliances containing refrigerants (freon) such as freezers, refrigerators, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers must have a tag showing freon removal by a certified technician before collection.

The following items are not included in weekly refuse pickup: construction and demolition debris (wood, carpet, drywall, etc.), dead animals, hazardous materials, animal stable refuse, liquids, televisions, microwave ovens, computer monitors and compostable yard waste.

If the following holiday falls on the Wednesday collection day or on a Monday or Tuesday the collection day will be delayed until Thursday:  New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Fees for garbage pick-up are charged to City residents on their monthly sewer and water bill.

The City does not provide pick-up for other yard wastes. Residents may contract with LRS individually for yard waste service by calling 1-517-536-4900. Their service runs April – October and is an annual fee of $48.00, paid to Modern Waste.
